In-Home Personal Training for Your Aging Parent
You’re not always in the room when it matters most. A missed step. A harder time getting up from the couch. A parent who says “I’m fine” but has quietly stopped doing the things they used to.
Fit Fam Personal Training brings a senior specialized 1-on-1 fitness support directly into your parent’s home across the Greater Columbus area. No driving them to a gym. No unfamiliar environment. Just a trainer who shows up, knows their history, and works at the pace that keeps them safe and steady.
Why Families Choose In-Home Training
Adult children searching for help usually aren’t looking for a generic gym membership. They’re looking for someone who can:
– Reduce fall risk through balance and stability work built around your parent’s actual limitations
– Rebuild strength safely after a hospital stay, surgery, or a long stretch of inactivity – Keep a watchful, trained eye on how your parent moves, day to day, in the space they actually live in
– Show up consistently, which matters more for older adults than almost any other factor in maintaining independence
We work with adults 50 and older throughout Dublin, Powell, Hilliard, Bexley, Westerville, Upper Arlington, New Albany, Lewis Center, and Delaware, Ohio, meeting clients where they already feel comfortable: home.
What a Session Looks Like
Every program starts with a conversation, not a sales pitch. We talk through your parent’s current mobility, any diagnoses or restrictions (arthritis, osteoporosis, recent falls, cardiac history, Parkinson’s, and similar conditions are all things we plan around), and what “progress” would actually mean for their life. Getting to the mailbox without stopping to rest. Getting off the floor if they end up there. Keeping up with grandkids. Even rebuilding a ‘bed confined’ senior to return to ambulating on their own feet!
From there, sessions are built around functional movement: strength, balance, mobility, coordination, and the kind of exercises that translate directly into everyday independence, not just numbers on a chart.

For Families Who Aren’t Local
Many of the families we work with don’t live in Central Ohio themselves. You might be coordinating care from out of state, checking in by phone, and trying to piece together whether your parents are really doing okay. We understand that dynamic. We’re happy to loop in family members on progress, within whatever boundaries your parents are comfortable with, so you’re not left guessing.
Your parent’s trainer, on the other hand, is right here in Central Ohio. We currently serve adults 50+ in and around: Powell, Delaware, Lewis Center, Westerville, Hilliard, and Upper Arlington.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is in-home training safe for someone who has already fallen? Yes. A prior fall is one of the most common reasons families reach out to us. We start with a careful mobility and balance evaluation and build the program around reducing the specific risks that led to the fall in the first place.
Does my parent need any equipment at home? No. We bring what’s needed for sessions. If a home already has certain equipment, we’re glad to use it, but it’s never a requirement to get started.
How do we know if training is actually working? We track functional benchmarks, not just workout stats: things like standing from a chair without using hands, walking distance without needing to rest, or steadiness on stairs. Families get real, visible signs of progress, not just a trainer’s word for it. We use a standardized Senior Fitness Test to start & re-evaluate along the way.
What if my parent is resistant to the idea? It’s common, and it’s something we’re used to navigating. Many clients come around once they meet their trainer and realize sessions don’t
feel like “working out,” they feel like time with someone who’s genuinely paying attention to them.
Do you work with people who have specific medical conditions? We regularly work with clients managing arthritis, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s, post-surgical recovery, and general deconditioning. We’re not a substitute for medical care, but we coordinate around it.
How do we get started? Reach out for a free 15-minute phone consult. We’ll ask a few questions about your parent’s situation and outline what a program could look like, no pressure, no commitment.
